Sweet Thing

You know the way the sun sets in spring?
Well I'm not good at talking about colour.
But there's a Van Morrison song called Sweet Thing,
And when the landscape's chalky or duller,
You put on that song, or put on that album,
Drive where there's road or where there's land stroll.
That voice and that song is like powdery talcum
For the soul
And I feel so alive,
I beat the wheel with my hand and I sing.
I feel love when I sing and drive.
I feel love when the sun sets in spring.
I want to go where the moon is new,
When the last late frost has come and gone.
I'm gonna go, gonna take my baby too.
I've been enough new places on my own.
And we'll land on a new shore,
Listen to Van the Man and nothing more.
And I'll find what my soul seeks
When I'm sitting going soft over Astral Weeks
I've got to be in the right state of mind!

Lo I Go

One little boy and one little girl got left behind
The fireman's spirit had guided he man when he was in his pride
Now he's old and the story goes that he chose a path away
From one little boy and one little girl left waving at the gate
No forgetting, no forgiving and never reconciled
Never at peace is the ageing alpha banished from his pride
Every word between the boy and man add to the weight
Abandonment is a heavy load, that must be his fate
The Steppenwolf steps slowly on the street his strides are paced
By the rhythm of his torture not the racket of the race
The memory of a boy and girl and his heart is fit to burst
Desire still to touch the world defends him from the worst
Desire still to be the man and be the wolf as well
The wildest ridge to roam and his ancient home to dwell
The little girl feels a growl rising in her chest
The wolf heart of her father has her onely cursed and blessed
And it's lo I go to the river won't you let me lay my burden down
It's low I bow when the devil is in my town
